The proposed Intermediate School is a fiscally-responsible way to add space.
We listened to your feedback and input throughout the planning process for our District. This plan allows us to address the space inadequacies at the intermediate level.
The proposed 120,480 SF Intermediate School would house 900 3rd - 5th grade students on the District-owned site of 155+ acres.
Upon completion of the new facility serving grades 3-5, the number of grade levels being served within the existing Middle School will be reduced by one full grade level, and Prairie Elementary will be reduced by two full grade levels. These transitions will ease the current pressure at those facilities.
In addition, the plan is to eventually discontinue the use of the West Learning Center.
Our proposed improvements will remedy the repair and maintenance needs that are facing the District at our West Facility. We will ease pressure on annual operating dollars that would need to be allocated to address those facility needs.
Annual utility costs associated with this facility will partially offset additional utility costs associated with construction of the new Intermediate School.
We are committed to the existing 9th-12th Grade High School serving as our District’s High School for the foreseeable future.
The District has explored and evaluated various options to solve our District’s space needs stemming from consistent enrollment growth. It is clear we have a need for additional space at the intermediate level.
ISD 518 is committing $5.8 Million to close the funding gap for this project and immediately address our space needs.
